PT-141, also known as Bremelanotide, is a synthetic peptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Unlike many compounds in its category, PT-141 acts centrally through melanocortin receptors in the brain rather than through the vascular system, making it a subject of significant interest in research related to sexual function and arousal - uniquely so in women. PT-141 has been given the nickname "female viagra."
